Overview

The Program Director I will lead planning and implementation of Teen Programs, as well as Youth and Adult Sports - including programming, communications, staff hiring, and supervision. The Program Director will develop new Teen Programs to be offered on-site and/or in partnership with local middle and high schools. To learn more, click here: YMCA Teen Programs

Schedule

  • Must have weekend availability - programs run seasonally on Saturdays and occasionally Sundays; front-line staff cover program hours but Director presence is required
  • Remaining hours made up during the week, typically Tuesday-Friday
  • Teen programming occurs during after-school hours and programs run at off-site locations at times so ability to travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of assigned departments/programs; ensuring growth, volume, safety and innovation
  • Oversees marketing, registration, communication and operation of on-site and off-site facilities
  • Implements regular site visits for observation and evaluation
  • Responsible for the development and control of department budget
  • Ensures that all assigned budget departments meet year-end outcomes
  • Monitor operations and ensure all licensing requirements are met
  • Ensure all YMCA policies & procedures, state licensing, ACA requirements, and health department requirements are adhered to at all times
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and appraises required staff and assists all staff in meeting their developmental needs
  • Responsible for fostering an environment where staff motivation, recognition, and teamwork thrives
  • Conducts bi-annual performance evaluations of staff
  • Serve as staff liaison in the Teams Division of the Annual Current Support Campaign and assists in the recruitment of campaigners to ensure Teams Division is filled and trained
  • Represents the Branch as needed in the community through various groups, organizations, coalitions, etc.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and repetitive hand motion is required
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond in critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in the event of an emergency
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years’ work experience in program/department area
  • YMCA experience preferred
  • 1+ year's supervisory experience required for a team of two or larger
  • 2+ years’ experience with program development and program operations
  • Experience in implementing administrative and safety standard
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute 

Pay Range

USD $68,640.00 - USD $77,915.88 /Yr.
