Overview

Adaptive Camp Coordinator

 

The Adaptive Program Coordinator will implement adaptive strategies and support participant behaviors in the Day Camp program. The Adaptive Program Coordinator will collaborate with participants, parents, Day Camp staff and the Program Director to create individualized and group-based adaptations for challenging behaviors.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

Ryan Family YMCA - Point Loma, CA

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Adaptive procedures and guidelines within Day Camp programs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationship with participants, parents, staff and community agencies involved in Camp programs
  • Foster positive communication with participants, parents, staff and community agencies involved in Camp programs
  • Conduct intakes with adaptive families to assess and support needs
  • Implement behavior strategies that support individual participants and groups in the camp program
  • Collaborate with Adaptive staff on an ongoing basis in support of Adaptive camp participants
  • Advise, mentor and support Unit Leaders, Camp Leaders and Adaptive Leaders working with Adaptive participants
  • Provide direct support to Adaptive Day Camp and Adaptive participants as needed
  • Maintain documentation of provided services and behavior logs
  • Ensure the safety of participant the Day Camp program
  • Follow YMCA policies, procedures and display a commitment to the YMCA’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience of Adaptive experience supporting social-emotional and behavioral needs with participants age 5-15
  • Minimum 3 years working with youth related programs
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
  • Experience in behavior modification strategies and reinforcement strategies
  • 12 units in Child Development or related field including: Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Humanities, Physical Education, Psychology, Recreation, Sociology, and Theater
  • Sincere interest to work with diverse groups of participants ages 5-15
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $22.64 - USD $27.17 /Hr.
