Overview

The Corporate Counsel is responsible for leading corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives. The Corporate Counsel provides senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, manages the legal function, and obtains and oversees the work of outside counsel. The Corporate Counsel is directly involved in customer contract review, real estate contract review, and complex business transactions.

Schedule

  • Location: Association Office 
  • Temporary contract position for 2 months 

Responsibilities

  • Works in key areas of the business, assist with reviewing/drafting/amending a range of commercial/business contracts (customers, suppliers and services providers)
  • Perform legal research and provide general support to organization to various departments, such as but not limited to HR related matters, customer contract interpretation/implementation, inter-company agreements, corporate matters
  • Manage a variety of side projects and topics
  • Knowledge of California labor and employment law 
  • Draft a variety of legal documents, as needed by the Organization 
  • Review new business relationships with vendors and subcontractors 
  • Promotes legal awareness  
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves complex legal issues 
  • Concurrently works on multiple legal issues and projects for various client organizations 

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of the California Bar required
  • 4+ years' of significant corporate transactional experience, preferably with a national law firm or in-house company, including experience drafting and negotiating contracts, real estate transactions and employment law 
  • Experience with managing and review real estate transactions
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $113,663.81 - USD $136,396.57 /Yr.
