Overview

The Gymnastics Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the overall success of the gymnastics department by managing key operational areas and delivering high-quality program. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective execution of gymnastics classes and team practices for children, while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. In the absence of the Gymnastics Director, the Gymnastics Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for safety compliance, staff coordination, class scheduling, program delivery and collaborating with department leaders. The Gymnastics Coordinator also provides leadership in staff scheduling, training, and performance discussions, facilitates monthly staff meetings, and represents the gymnastics program at YMCA campaigns and community events.

  • Location: Carlsbad, (6 miles north of Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA)
  • Address: 2261 Cosmos Court, Carlsbad, CA, 92011
  • Full-time from 9am -12pm and 2pm - 7pm  

Responsibilities

  • Manages key areas such as safety, class scheduling, staff coordination, and gymnastics program delivery to ensure program is effectively being executed
  • Oversees the daily operations of the gymnastics department in the absence of the Gymnastics Director, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
  • Teaches all levels of classes for children 2-17 years of age, including leading team practice when needed
  • Provides participant evaluations to determine participants are classified accurately in class according to their skills and abilities
  • Be the point of contact for parents when communicating gymnastics program and class schedules updates
  • Collaborates with Camp and Gymnastics directors to develop and organize daily operations of gymnastics activities that ensure adaptive equipment and resources are available to all participants
  • Develops teardown and schedules outline in the absence of the Gymnastics Director to ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and YMCA’s code of conduct
  • Participates in YMCA campaigns and community events as needed in representation of the Gymnastics division
  • Provides support on staff related issues pertaining to scheduling, training, and branch events
  • Organizes and leads the monthly gymnastics staff meetings
  • Basic knowledge of level 1-6 USAG program
  • Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures
  • Physical ability to safely spot, lead, demonstrate, and interact in group activities
  • Visual and auditory ability and physical capacity to quickly identify, assess, and respond effectively to critical incidents and emergencies
  • Ability to provide efficient workflow, managing tasks, prioritizing deadlines, and maintaining order
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant applications
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Formal education, usually obtained by a High School Diploma/GED, or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance, supplemented by specialized training in competitive gymnastics, acrobats, or a related field
  • 3+ years' of work experience as a Gymnastics Coach, acrobatics, competitive gymnastics leader or related field

Pay Range

USD $22.64 - USD $27.17 /Hr.
