Overview

The Jr. Compensation Analyst will research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of salaries. Assist in the creation and evaluation of job descriptions and use market salary data to ensure competitive and fair pay among all employees. Adhere to local, state and federal wage and hour laws to ensure compliance.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM 
  • 3 month temporary position

Responsibilities

  • Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
  • Prepares and maintains job classifications and salary scales
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information
  • Gathers data from market-based compensation surveys; uses spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends
  • Evaluates and implements job analysis instruments and materials
  • Monitor, audit and analyze compensation practices to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines and wage and hour laws
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to offer fair and competitive rates to prospective employees, conducting salary analysis for job offers
  • Responsible for participation in compensation surveys ensuring timely submissions
  • Provide insight and promote ideas to enhance the salary structure of the organization to allow for career path visibility and appropriate grade levels
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with the ability to create complex spreadsheets, specifically VLOOKUP
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy is essential
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines simultaneously
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources
  • 2+ years' experience as a Compensation Analyst 
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: 
    • American Red Cross 
    • American Heart Association 
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $29.94 - USD $35.93 /Hr.
