Overview

The Development Manager will provide leadership to special events and annual campaign efforts for the branches within the YMCA of San Diego County. Providing overall direction, execution and management of special events; including leading volunteer and staff committees, cultivation and stewardship of event attendees, sponsorships, and event budget responsibility. Will lead donor prospect research, coordinate campaigner resources and initiatives, and direct annual campaign.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday from 9am-5pm
  • Schedule will shift due to events/program needs
  • Employee will be based in a Branch location TBD and will also spend time at the Association Office as well as outside venues

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for all YMCA branch fundraising-related events, inclusive of annual campaign events, major donor and stewardship events, and special events
  • Responsible for development and control of event budgets including oversight of revenue benchmarks through sponsorships, auction, ticket sales, etc. are met and assigned budgets meet year-end outcomes
  • Direct the special event committees and branch staff by providing oversight, strategy and implementation of events
  • Serve as the department staff liaison for all branch related fundraising events and adherence to best practices
  • Develop relationships with community members and volunteers to ensure event success and participation
  • Support Executive Leaders to ensure year-over-year growth for special events and annual campaign, designing necessary supporting strategies and tactics to ensure goals are met.
  • Recruit and retain effective members of special event committees and volunteer meetings
  • Provide leadership to branches countywide for Annual Campaign Events Strategy; comprehensive of campaign events, major donor and stewardship events, and goal achievement
  • Provide leadership and assist with Annual Campaign and additional branch fundraising, such as capital, major gifts, and other development opportunities
  • Supports fundraising success through prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts
  • Responsible for supporting the annual stewardship plan by ensuring all monthly stewardship targets are met alongside the Development Director and branch staff
  • Assist Executive Leadership team in additional branch fundraising efforts such as capital, major gifts, and other development opportunities as needed
  • Build and maintain relationships with event supporters, volunteers and donors through effective donor stewardship and communications
  • Represent branches as needed in the community through various groups, organizations, coalitions, etc
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent writing, communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate high level YMCA volunteers and key community leaders
  • Ability to excel in initiative, enthusiasm, and understanding of and commitment to the goals of the YMCA
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years' of experience in special events or working with volunteers
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an
    emergency situation
  • This position requires the ability to sit, stand and input data on a computer for extended periods of time
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $71,621.81 - USD $85,946.17 /Yr.
