Overview

The Skate Park Representative is responsible for monitoring access to the facility, answering calls, supervising participants, and ensuring there is a safe riding environment.

Schedule

  • Position to substitute for current instructors

Responsibilities

  • Educate members about the YMCA programs and mission 
  • Monitor access to the facility by ensuring members and participants check-in upon arrival 
  • Answer all incoming calls in a courteous manner 
  • Maintain working knowledge of skate park and Association programs to educate members 
  • Greet, interview, and tour future skate park members 
  • Create a safe and fun skating/riding environment 
  • Supervise participants at all times 
  • Model the values and mission of the YMCA 
  • Follow YMCA standards and procedures 
  • Build professional relationships with members, participants, staff and the community
  • Conflict resolution skills, and ability to demonstrate sound judgement and initiative 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop harmonious relationships with staff, members, guests and volunteers 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications

  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA 
  • Experience with action sports 
  • Must possess flexibility especially in scheduling shifts, including ability to work weekends 
  • The physical ability to lift 35 pounds 
  • Experience with basic Windows based applications 
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency 
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: 
    • American Red Cross 
    • American Heart Association 
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $17.25 - USD $20.41 /Hr.
