Overview

Responsible for overseeing buildings, equipment, maintenance, ground-keeping, custodial services, repair and up-keep of facility equipment and the grounds of assigned locations. Assist with project management of small capital construction projects. Supervise contract services, operation of facility equipment, pools and plumbing. Responsible for purchasing supplies, securing bids for repairs and developing and implementing risk management and prevention maintenance plans.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:30PM 
  • Weekends as needed 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and training staff on the implementation of effective building maintenance and preventative plans
  • Maintain all aspects of building interior as well as exterior while ensuring the safety of members, staff and participants
  • Effectively and promptly communicate building and maintenance related issues to supervisor and branch leadership
  • Ensure facility equipment is properly maintained including pool, fitness and building equipment
  • Create and maintain preventative maintenance logs for assigned facility items. Effectively maintain assigned California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) account and Hazmat/Hazcom protocols in collaboration with supervisor, EHS team, and Aquatic Maintenance Manager
  • Recruit, train, supervise, appraise, conduct performance evaluations of assigned staff, and assist in meeting their developmental needs. Foster staff motivation, recognition, and teamwork
  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors on maintenance and repair projects
  • Print, route, and ensure maintenance work orders/projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Assist in the maintenance of clean, attractive, safe, and well-repaired facilities
  • Work with vendors to ensure facility projects are completed within agreed upon budget, scope of work, and schedule. Ensure all work orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Work closely with the supervisor to develop and manage a facility budget and preventative maintenance plan
  • Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers as well as developing effective teams
  • Supervise day-to-day departmental work activities by assigning and prioritizing workflow and maintaining control of preventative maintenance schedules
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing a budget
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and janitorial techniques, the use of hand and power tools and the ability to understand mechanical systems as well as general carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical skills
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes (i.e. CBC, CALOSHA, ADA, CEQA, DEH, etc.)
  • Proven fiscal management skills, knowledge of and expertise in maintenance and facility department budgets
  • High level in planning and implementation of administrative procedures and the ability to enforce safety regulations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS office (i.e. excel, work, outlook, etc.) and work order systems
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Ability to make sound business judgments in a timely manner and demonstrated experience with prioritizing under time pressures
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or equivalent combination of experience and credentials required
  • 5+ years' of progressive experience and responsibility in facility management with 2+ years' supervisory experience
  • Experience securing bids and overseeing subcontractor work
  • Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment
  • Preferred certifications include: IFMP Facilities Management Professional, OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, and trade specific certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems working knowledge of regulatory codes (i.e. CBC, CALOSHA, ADA, CEQA, DEH, etc.)
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $71,621.81 - USD $79,946.17 /Yr.
