Overview

The Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting participants and students to and from program sites during the day, and responsible for daily vehicle inspection, cleaning interior of buses, maintaining applicable records, and conforming to all Association Transportation policies.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and passengers 
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle usage
  • Keep vehicle clean and free of damages
  • Comply with state regulations regarding proper usage, inspection, and maintenance of vehicles
  • Practice non-aggressive defensive diving techniques  
  • Communicate effectively with staff, participants and parents
  • When not driving the bus, employee may be asked to assist in the leadership of YMCA activities 
  • Maintain all current certifications required for the position 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Valid CA Class B Drivers License
  • Valid DL 51A Medical certificated 
  • Air brakes and passenger endorsements (transit qualified)
  • School bus certificate required 
  • Copy of current T-01 card
  • Good driving record
  • Current CDL H6 print out (must be dated within 30 days of application)
  • Pass pre-emlpoyment and random drug testing as required by the DOT
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: 
    • American Red Cross 
    • American Heart Association 
    • American Safety & Health Institute 

 

YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you. Pay Range

USD $19.69 - USD $23.63 /Hr.
