Overview

The In-Home Respite Provider (North County) cares for children, teens, and adults who have autism and/or other developmental disabilities in their homes and community settings. This role centers on fostering clients’ independence, socialization, and community involvement through individualized caregiving. By offering this service, the In-Home Respite Provider offers parents and guardians respite from their caregiving duties, thus contributing to the resilience of families within our community.

SCHEDULE:

  • Coordinate a flexible, part-time schedule that aligns with family needs, which may include working multiple sessions within a single day
  • Weekly hours will vary based on client needs and availability
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

WORK DESIGNATION

  • In-Person (Client Homes) - North County from Mira Mesa to Fallbrook

Responsibilities

  • Engage with parents and clients in a positive and professional manner, collaborating with families to fulfill the clients' needs effectively  
  • Provide one-on-one care and supervision for respite clients, both in their homes and community settings, aiming to enhance their independence, socialization, and community engagement, while ensuring their safety during scheduled respite appointments
  • Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and supervisor to ensure continuity of care and client satisfaction  
  • Address the social, safety, and personal hygiene requirements of children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities
  • Coordinate a flexible, part-time schedule that aligns with family needs, which may include working multiple sessions within a single day; Weekly hours will vary based on client needs and availability  
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines and adhere to California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 17 Section 58130(b), guidelines from DDS (Department of Developmental Services), and San Diego Regional Center 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout San Diego County 

Qualifications

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience, including professional or personal experience, providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities or in a related caregiving role (such as nursing, special education, or in-home care) required or 6 units of coursework in the childcare field, special needs field, health field, or a related area  

JOB COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective use of the English language, including speaking, reading, and writing  
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions independently, without supervision  
  • Access to and the capability to use technology (smartphone, tablet, or computer) for tasks like submitting timecards and mileage bi-weekly, completing mandatory online training, and receiving communications via email  
  • Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, family members, and colleagues  
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and compassion  
  • Must be able to safely lift individuals weighing up to fifty (50) pounds  
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed 

PRE-HIRE CONTINGENCIES:

  • Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications  
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross or American Safety and Health Institute  
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Pay Range

USD $20.50 - USD $20.50 /Hr.
