Overview

The Skate Park Assistant Instructor is responsible for assisting the Skate Park Instructor lessons, daily operations, and supervision of the skate park. The Assistant Instructor duties includes monitoring skate park admissions, supervision of facilities, staff, and behavior of participants through understanding and implementation of skate park policies and procedures. The individual in this position must demonstrate job skills related to the administrative assignments, as well as plan and implement park maintenance projects on a regular basis.

  • Operating hours: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 7:45pm, Saturday - Sunday 9:00am - 4:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Execute day to day responsibilities to create a safe, secure and enjoyable environment 
  • Supervise and ensure safety of participants at all times 
  • Effectively communicate with staff and participants 
  • Model the values and mission of the YMCA at all times 
  • Follow YMCA standards and procedures as outlined in manual, trainings and meetings 
  • Maintain a professional manner with members, participants, staff and the community 
  • Communication: Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively 
  • Functional Expertise: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology 
  • Self-Development: Pursues self-development that enhances job performance 
  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 16 years of age or older
  • Actively enrolled in high school 
  • Valid school district Work Permit required
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills 
  • Experience with skateboarding 
  • The visual and auditory ability to quickly respond to incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency 
  • The ability to lift 35 pounds 
  • The physical ability to lead and interact in activities and enforce safety standards 
  • Must possess flexibility, especially in scheduling shifts 
  • Ability to instruct classes for all ages 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: 
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $17.25 - USD $20.41 /Hr.
