Overview

The Compensation Specialist is apart of the Human Resources team and plays a key role in supporting a positive employee experience. The Specialist conducts audits, research, and analysis on a variety of compensation-related matters and coordinates job classification and compensation activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance with federal and state regulations, and adherence to association policies. Additionally, the Specialist assists in developing and writing job descriptions to support accurate role classification and consistent compensation practices.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • Full-time, 3-month temporary position, contract ends 11/30/2025, then transition to regular 
  • 3 days on-site 

Responsibilities

  • Support quality assurance of compensation data in our systems through development of audits and effective repeatable processes
  • Generate any necessary reporting for audits and evaluations
  • Research and analysis in different areas involving employee's compensation
  • Collaborate with compensation and HR team to provide support to implementation of all compensation practices
  • Support the creation and revision of job descriptions to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards
  • Manage the Association's job description library 
  • Administers and maintains compensation-related data management systems
  • Assure the accuracy of compensation-related items in the HRIS system
  • Maintain and update database of all job descriptions according to standard functional areas
  • Maintains system documentation and ensures integrity of data
  • Establish priorities and organize workload; plan, coordinate, and implement special projects
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent Compensation experience required
  • 1+ year's experience in Human Resources required
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: 
    • American Red Cross 
    • American Heart Association 
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $26.04 - USD $31.24 /Hr.
