Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the operations of specialized project(s) and initiative(s) throughout the Community Support Services Region. This role requires strategic planning, effective leadership, and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve project goals and ensure program success.

 

The Project Director role will be working alongside YMCA Branch Staff focusing on Community Well-Being Programs designed to support enhancing Community Member wellness and experiences such as Cancer Survivorship Exercise Program, Diabetes Prevention Program and Community As Medicine. This role will be required to travel throughout San Diego County to our various YMCA Branch locations, ensuring relational touch-points are made with Staff and Community. This role will be directly working with YMCA Community Health Navigators and be supported by the Well-Being and Implementation Director.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00 PM with weekends and evenings on occasion

 

WORK DESIGNATION

  • Hybrid (must work within San Diego County Region)
    • 80% of the role will be spent travelling to varying Y branch locations throughout San Diego County
    • 20% of the role will be spent working remotely 
    • Please note that the work designation may change based on business needs

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

 

The Community Well-Being Department focuses on working with community to achieve their goals for better health and well-being. The department is committed to focusing on areas impacting the well-being of all by addressing social determinants of health with an evidence-based approach. With an emphasis on relationship building and working with community.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in agency decision-making, program planning, policy development, and administration oversight  
  • Administrate operational aspects of ongoing projects with general supervision from leadership and collaborate with executive leadership to develop project goals and long-term plans; Track goals, compile data, complete and disseminate written and oral reports for federal, state and local funding sources, collaborators and community groups as required  
  • Coordinate and ensure progress on departmental and/or cross-functional teams, prioritizing tasks, including creation, oversight, and implementation of project goals, and providing technical support and direction when necessary  
  • Oversee and ensure project compliance with all federal, state, county and YMCA standards; Ensure consistent delivery of service and consistent levels of service  
  • Develop and maintain community relationships to support project initiatives  
  • Ensure successful execution of each stage of the project with frequent, open communication with the project team members and stakeholders  
  • Develops, manages, and executes the strategic planning of multiple projects; Create project plan(s) and manage resources to ensure project schedule, budget, quality, and specification goals are attained; Develop and maintain databases, sites, and project management software including SharePoint, OneDrive, and Planner  
  • Oversees coordination of personnel and resources required to successfully complete projects; Recruit, train, manage, supervise, and motivate project teams; Provides leadership, direction, motivation, and guidance to employees working on assigned projects and initiatives  
  • Creates functional strategies and specific objectives and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure; Manage financial tracking, reporting and invoicing for projects as necessary  
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned and assist with maintaining proper document storage and auditing; Participate in and attend all required staff meetings, trainings, YMCA staff development events, and appropriate agency-wide committees 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout San Diego County 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Communications, Business Administration, Social Work or related field or equivalent work experience required 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing projects from initiation to completion, ideally within a non-profit or social service organization, required 
    • Proven experience in managing large scale projects including planning, execution, and evaluation 
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

PRE-HIRE CONTINGENCIES:

  • Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications  
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute  
  • Position will require additional clearances in order to comply with all program, licensing, state law, and funding requirements:   
    • Exclusion and Debarment checks prior to first day and monthly thereafter

Pay Range

USD $68,640.00 - USD $77,915.88 /Yr.
