Overview

The Senior Grant Budget Analyst is responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of all assigned federal, state, county, city, and foundation awards, as well as fee-for-service programs and related administrative departments within the Traditional Branches and Overnight Camps region. This role also provides financial management support for the Escondido Campus and contributes to financial analysis of capital improvement projects.

The Analyst partners with Finance Directors and program leaders to develop grant budgets for RFPs, prepare budget modifications, and review monthly reimbursement requests, forecasts, and variances. They will meet regularly with program and branch finance leadership to review budget trends, investigate variances, recommend journal entries, and update forecasts using Adaptive Insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual budgets and update forecasts monthly for each branch/grant/contract/department assigned; Produce and submit budget modifications to funders when necessary
  • Leads quarterly budget meetings with program and branch leadership team
  • Provide meaningful analysis of revenue and expenses including comparisons to prior year, budget and forecast on routine and ad-hoc basis
  • Conduct Ad-hoc analysis and reports to assist programs and departments
  • Gather important organization data from multiple sources and compile it into meaningful reports or dashboard for various stakeholders
  • Lead and support the work of the Sr. Director of Finance, providing support to them as needed about creating Adaptive Reports, Budget Modifications, Budgets for RFPs, and working with Budget Tracking tools
  • Provide Accounting with performance summaries for the assigned portfolio of budgets, including percentage of budget meetings held, forecast variance trends, budget tracking sheet completion, and status of Adaptive forecasts
  • Manages spending that diverges from the approved budget by collaborating with program directors to prepare and submit Administrative Adjustment Requests (AARs) or Budget Modifications
  • Create, maintain, and enhance budgeting and accounting software tools; develop financial reports and tracking sheets; and distribute standard financial reports to branch leadership
  • Conduct trainings for program stakeholders to clearly identify; the allocations assumed for staff within the program, the budgeted amounts for each expense category (and what category consists of) and which costs are unallowable
  • Must be able to apply compliance standards unique to various Federal, State, and local contracts using OMB Uniform guidance 2 CFR Part 200
  • Ability to read and analyze contract terms and conditions and apply this knowledge to determine fiscal compliance and operationalize compliance systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent critical thinking, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
  • High skill level in planning, creating, communicating, and implementing process improvements
  • Advanced knowledge of MSOffice (emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field or four (4) years of equivalent related work experience required
  • 4+ years' of accounting, finance, economics, business or related field work experience required
  • 3+ years' grants/contract budgeting and analysis experience required
  • Experience in providing guidance and instruction to a working group
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $82,365.08 - USD $98,838.09 /Yr.
