Overview

The Manager on Duty (in the absence of any other ranking director or coordinator) will be responsible for the
overall supervision of the YMCA building and grounds. This individual must be able to supervise staff and volunteers and make sure that everyone follows safety standards and policies of the YMCA. The Manager on Duty will act as the “department supervisor” for all departments in the absence of any other higher-ranking director or coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming phone calls in a courteous and timely manner, route incoming calls to appropriate
    departments and staff
  • Accurately process transactions following branch policies and procedures
  • Monitor access to facility by ensuring members and participants check-in upon arrival
  • Maintain working knowledge of branch programs in order to communicate and share information to members and participants
  • Responsible for completing end of shift procedures, balance and account for all transactions
  • Provide accurate and engaging informative branch tours
  • Verify membership and program data for quality assurance
  • Responsible for all programs and facility operations of the branch
  • Serving as first point of contact for all membership-related concerns; following up with the proper Department Head
  • Evaluate program areas and staff by completing Manager on Duty reports on every shift
  • Responsible for opening/closing of the branch facility, as well as monitoring security procedures and facility operations during the assigned shift
  • Serve as primary responder to all security/fire alarms and facility operation incidents
  • Incident Response Leader (IRL) certification required within 30 days of employment
  • This position requires a professional manner with excellent customer service, organizational, problem solving, staff interaction and supervision, and decision-making skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must ensure all participants follow established procedures and guidelines, and relate well with a diverse
    culture of adults and children
  • Requires ability to supervise and motivate membership staff and provide excellent customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' of supervisory experience required
  • Experience with handling cash
  • Responsible for overseeing all branch activities during their shift and to check for any problems that need to be addressed immediately
  • Requires standing and data entry for extended periods of time and having physical ability to act swiftly in any emergency
  • Must have the skills, knowledge, and genuine willingness to assume a visible presence in the facility
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range

USD $19.69 - USD $23.63 /Hr.
